I’ll be spending the end of October lurking around Northern Europe 🇪🇺 for two great community events:

📌 PostgreSQL Conference Europe, PGConf.EU (Oct 21–24, Riga, Latvia)

🎤 On Thursday, Oct 23 (main stage) I’ll be sharing how PostgreSQL has been powering diofanti.org, a Greek civic tech platform for government transparency and citizen engagement.

🧩 On Tuesday, Oct 21 (Extensions Showcase), I’ll present how recent advances in PostgreSQL shared memory facilities enable a Redis-like developer experience right inside SQL. This work comes together in my spat extension.

Right after, I’ll be flying to Stockholm to meet with the Python community.

📌 PyCon Sweden (Oct 30–31, Stockholm, Sweden)

🐍 My talk will explore extending SQL databases with Python: sharing patterns for extending SQL databases with Python, and how Python and SQL can play nicely together to tame complexity and reduce costs.

Both the PostgreSQL and Python communities are among the most extensive, diverse, and welcoming in tech.

I’m especially excited because these talks sit right at the heart of my favorite kind work: building open-source database tooling and experimenting with civic tech, open data, and AI.

If you’ll be around Riga or Stockholm during those dates, let’s grab a ☕️ or a 🍻!
